Student Dies on Trip Home from Lot 83 North

By Zoran Goran Krivoslavokoslov

Univeristy Park, PA-- One of Penn State's brightest students fell victim to a terrible tragedy last night on a seemingly routine walk home from Lot 83 North. William Harris (senior - biotechnology) was found only 50 feet from the door to his dormitory building, Ewing Hall.

Harris was in a state of hysteria and severe hypothermia when discovered. Although every effort was made, EMTs said it was simply too late to revive him.

Upon investigation, it was found that Harris was making the return hike to his dorm after parking in Lot 83 North. He was simply no match for the relentless wind chills he faced during the long walk back. Harris was beginning his final semester at Penn State and had gone out to celebrate a recent job offer with his friends and fiancé.

Graham Spanier in the midst of a poorly stifled chuckle regarding the student parking situation at PSU.

President Graham Spanier held a press conference today to discuss the tragic event. Spanier offered his "sincere and heartfelt condolences" to all who knew Harris.

In defense of the University, Spanier added that "amid football, curbing binge drinking, and oh yeah, quality education, student parking is not a high priority." When asked if Penn State would try to improve the parking situation following this tragedy, Spanier said "yeah, we'll get right on that," but could not contain a chuckle.

Student support for Harris's family has been immediate. Early this morning, students held a vigil in front of Old Main, displaying posters and buttons bearing the number 83. This event has quickly united students, who now realize that a simple trip to their cars can be a test of endurance and a fight for life.
