Racism Allegations Hit Peak; Students Demand White Building Be Torn Down

By Toasty McGuigan

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA-- The back and forth racism dicussions on Penn State's University Park campus reached a fever pitch this week as a group of students demanded that the White building be torn down.

"In line with statistics published in The Daily Collegian, racist incidents here have increased close to sixteen thousand percent in the last two weeks," said group leader James Connely. "Now Penn State is promoting white superiority through inanimate objects. Is it any coincidence that these 'lawsuits' against the White building have surfaced recently? Of course not, they just want to keep whites in the news.

"As a white person, this sickens me. It's clearly not a coincidence that the building is used as a physical fitness facility. It's like Penn State is saying 'Hey, if you want to be able to run from those crime committing minorities, here's a building of your own to use.'"

Connely also reiterated his belief that the building must be torn down, and not simply renamed.

"It's clear that the damage has already been done. Penn State obviously wants to keep something pro Penn State in the name. Some have suggested they could rename it the Blue Building, but we'd just like to make it known that we have an Eskimo Coalition ready to blast PSU should that change go through. We've also received preliminary word that the Smurfs and hypothermia victims are on our side if Penn State decides to go that route."
