Summer Long Distance Relationship Sizzles on Many Levels

By Jane Sorbitol

STATE COLLEGE, PA-- Being apart from a loved one during the summer may be a trying time for some couples. However, Dave Fritz (junior - Marketing) sees the time spent apart as a time of opportunity rather than bitterness.

Dave Fritz has been dating his girlfriend Jenna Walton since February of this year. While Dave is working in State College this summer, his girlfriend has landed a job in Cape May, New Jersey.

"I met this cute girl in my BA 302 class in the spring, and I figured she's worth a go," Fritz explains. "Eventually I got around to asking her what she was doing this summer. When she said 'I got a job in New Jersey,' I knew this relationship would work out over the summer."

The six hour drive from Cape May, New Jersey to Univeristy Park, Pennsylvania gives Dave more than enough time to zip up his pants when he hears that his girlfriend Jenna is planning a visit.

Jenna seems to be smitten for Dave: "I think it's so romantic how we're still dating this summer even though we are six hours a part. That's the kind of commitment I want and the reason why I adore Dave."

However, this six-hour car ride is just the buffer that Dave needs to make the relationship work.

"I cannot stand to be around Jenna for more than a few days at a time," says Dave with a wry smile on his face. "Since gas is so expensive this summer, I have more than enough freedom."

Freedom which Dave uses to date other people, unbeknownst to his star-crossed lover Jenna. In fact, Dave, who turned 21 a few weeks ago, has been picking up and trying to score with girls at the various downtown bars.

In addition, when Jenna does come up for a day or two, the sex is unbelievable. When Jenna leaves, he is free to roam again.

Recently, Dave told Jenna that this is a bad weekend for her to visit him since he is feeling kind of sick. In actuality, the perfectly healthy Dave is planning a weekend of trying to pick up fresh meat during arrival weekend.

"I feel bad for Dave lying in bed all alone. I hope that he feels better next weekend," says Jenna, "I'll be sure to make it up to him when I see him again!"

Something that Dave can lie in bed and look forward to.
