STATE COLLEGE, PA-- Sting, the successful solo performer and lead singer of acclaimed rock band The Police, will be making a rare appearance in State College, PA this April 25th, at the Bryce Jordan Center. The Grammy-nominated recording artist will punctuate a very successful year with a visit to State College, according to The University Music Center. The singer, whose 2000 release "Brand New Day" has spawned the international dance anthem "Desert Rose", has long been a favorite of Penn State students and faculty, as well as State College residents.
Sting will be in town with his 11-year old daughter Emily, to attend the April 25th show of "Globetrotters On Ice" at the Bryce Jordan Center. Following the show, the pair will head back to Philadelphia, where Sting will attend a live taping of "Philly After Midnight", with host Wally Kennedy. Kennedy's representatives have called the Sting booking a "major coup" for the local show, and hope to follow it up with more visits from artists of Sting's caliber. Sting's daughter Emily is considered the main reason for the artist's BJC visit. It was her constant nagging and whining that finally forced her father to fulfill his long-forgotten promise of taking her to a "Globetrotters On Ice" performance.
According to Sting's agent, Gibby Winslow, Emily often feels neglected while her father tours the world, and this was a chance for him to spend some quality time with "the little brat." Mr. Winslow expects that the high jinx and silly antics of the "Globetrotters On Ice" will only amuse Emily for about half an hour or so, after which she will be ready to go back to Philadelphia. "Yeah, I'd guess we'll be out of that God-forsaken shit-hole in an hour, tops," noted Winslow, adding, "I can't believe anybody with any class would ever do a show in this country bumblefuck hell-hole."
University staff expects a full house at the BJC on April 25th, though a few tickets are currently still available in the upper deck area.
